How it works, country by country

GPA is a credit-weighted average: each grade point times its credits, added up, divided by total credits. On the 4.0 scale, A is 4.0, A minus is 3.7, B plus is 3.3, B is 3.0, and so on down to F at 0. On the Indian 10-point scale, O is 10, A plus is 9, A is 8, B plus is 7, B is 6, C is 5, D is 4, and F is 0. In percentage mode, marks turn into grade points like this: on the 4.0 scale, 93 and over is 4.0, 90 to 92 is 3.7, 87 to 89 is 3.3, 83 to 86 is 3.0, 80 to 82 is 2.7, 77 to 79 is 2.3, 73 to 76 is 2.0, 70 to 72 is 1.7, 67 to 69 is 1.3, 63 to 66 is 1.0, 60 to 62 is 0.7, below 60 is 0. On the 10-point scale, 90 and over is 10, 80 to 89 is 9, 70 to 79 is 8, 60 to 69 is 7, 55 to 59 is 6, 50 to 54 is 5, 45 to 49 is 4, below 45 is 0. For the 10-point scale, a rough percentage is CGPA times 9.5, which is the CBSE rule, but many universities use their own conversion, so check your own institution. The UK does not use GPA in the same way; it uses degree classes like First, 2:1, and 2:2, so this calculator will not match a UK degree directly.
