RGB to HSL Converter
Type RGB values and see the hue, saturation and lightness.
Pick a color with sliders
How it works
HSL describes a color by its hue, which is the position around the color wheel in degrees, its saturation, which is how strong the color is, and its lightness, which runs from black to white. Red sits at hue 0, fully saturated, at 50% lightness. Drag the sliders and the hue moves around the wheel while saturation and lightness follow the RGB values.

FAQ
What do hue, saturation and lightness mean?
Hue is the color itself, picked as degrees around a wheel where red is 0, green is 120 and blue is 240. Saturation is how vivid it is, and lightness runs from black at 0% to white at 100%.
Why does grey have 0% saturation?
Grey has equal red, green and blue, so no single hue stands out. With nothing to saturate, the saturation is 0 whatever the lightness.
What hue is red?
Red is hue 0, and also 360, since the wheel wraps around. Green is 120 and blue is 240.
